The homeowners had just purchased this property and encountered issues with grading and drainage right away. This initiated the conversation in terms of what was required and what would be ‘nice to have’ items.
In basically ‘redoing’ almost the entire landscape, we ensured mature vegetation was protected as well as reuse of existing items such as boulders, stones and perennials etc. Some of the more important construction items included large retaining walls of timber along the side yard that incorporated terraced steps, fencing and a drainage system below grade to prevent the overflow of rainwater and snowmelt that was creating issues inside the garage and driveway. The front yard was also addressed by creating a new entry, regrading and terracing with large boulders, new and existing, that were intentionally positioned to create visual interest as well as a soft transition from the sidewalk grade up to the front entry landing.
